Yes a truly thoughtless example, I think the JW org have given up trying to convince people anymore they seem no longer to care at all!

Unbelievable KMS example
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.

Gokumonkey, here's a useful tip for coping with life: get to know the difference when information is true-- and when it is that you are reading literature (fairy tales).
Hint: the Bible's Flood story is a universal tale of divinely instigated mass murder by drowning and survival of a chosen few and is found in the earliest known literature or "story book", The Epic of Gilgamesh from Mesopotamia about 2100 bce.
For very many reasons Noah's Flood could not possibly have happened and not the least of these reasons is that archaeologists and earth scientists have clear records of Earth events and climate change in the last fifty thousand years and there is no trace of any global catastrophe having taken place and why would there be since Noah's flood is only a Hebrew take on an older story.

Why "Most high"?
by Doug Mason inif there were only one god, why do we encounter the expression, "most high god"?.
is this not indicative of polytheism, and of levels (or degrees) of god-ness?.

@Simon i.e.lesser gods, ordinary gods, most high gods and supreme gods..............
@Punky, have you noted the baseless and illogical statements used in your Creation book quote, it is the style of reasoning on which this religion is built:
"The face of the deep, of course, would be toward the Pleiades, which are claimed to be the habitation of Jehovah." (Creation; 1927; 2,175,000 ed.; p. 94)
1 the face of the deep faces all the stars visible from the Earth!
2 there is no evidence for an almighty god living anywhere let alone in the Pleiades.
So surely Doug the mention of grades of gods reflects the early Bronze Age view and accounts for the struggle the Hebrew text is famous for in trying to convince the rabble the "new light" (probably from Egypt) that now there is only One Most high god.

You may PRETEND to care - in reality you are SELFISH!
by wannabefree inthat;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .
watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

Diogenesister I was just about to mention the same thing quoting Brokeback’s Jungian explanation. I have been reading Jung for the last three weeks so my head is full of him. Jung in Context, P Homans and On Jung, A Stevens.
The WT delusion offers its followers a readymade ‘persona’ (the social mask) and the avoidance of considering the ‘shadow’ which means dispensing with the need to confront and analyse the bad bits of our psychological makeup.
An individual’s total belief in the off-the-shelf JW persona which provides a complete but false view of oneself in relation to the world, prevents the necessary and very personal development needed to become a balanced, mature individual (the individuation) and find fulfilment in life and happiness through our unique experience.
The JW org arrests this development and reduces its members to a permanent state of psychological, emotional and intellectual child-like dependency on the leadership and leaves the individual susceptible to their irresponsible instructions.
So now with the JW doomsday plot turning sour all they can do is hurl insults at those who have chosen to depart. To call leavers selfish is rich coming from an abusive organisation!
"Selfish" is a transparent projection of the JW Org because for all its talk of God and love and its pretence of caring, it is fundamentally a self serving, self centred cult.

JW Lawyers and Heavyweights lying in court.
by freddo inin a recent canadian case i've seen (on line video in threads on here) the wt lawyer says that disfellowshipping isn't actual shunning but only a cutting off of spiritual association.
but what case is it and is there a transcript available on line?.
any other "good" examples from the point of view that it proves wt speak out of both sides of their mouths?.

The organisation controlling Jehovah's Witnesses are plainly dishonest and without a conscience.
Publicly and to the courts they claim they do not teach the shunning of family members since this would show them to be uncaring thugs yet in practice there is full evidence that if you want to be considered loyal to the JW Organisation, then it is required that you shun. To demonstrate this, have a look at the post by FedUpJW (Mid-week circuit serpent's talk) on the subject of circuit overseer's comments at an assembly on how to be loyal:
The CO exhorted to show "loyalty" by having nothing to do with a df'd family member, even a child!
The leaders of JWs are heartless liars and deceivers.

Keys to understanding the Book of Revelation
by Doug Mason in· the whole book of revelation is one letter.. · that letter was to be taken by a courier and read out aloud in churches along a road that ran from ephesus to laodicea.
the author was very familiar with each of the churches.. · those christians were experiencing intense persecution.. · the letter was designed to encourage these first-century christians to “overcome”.
it told them that the end was imminent (“soon”) and they had to remain faithful, to the point of being prepared to losing their lives.. · john had gone to patmos in order to compose (“receive”) the message.

I agree with you Hanged Man, there is such a full correspondence of the folk explanation for the movements of the heavenly bodies with stories elaborated from them in the Bible that in my mind there can be no doubt that this is the foundational myth at the real source of 'scripture'.
A key to interpreting the origins of the Bible is to understand that whereas the heavenly 'book' of stars is without exception cyclical; that is daily, monthly or annual; the stories derived from them in scripture are told as one off events.
A simple example would be the Lord of the Night dispels the Sun God of the day daily as the Earth rotates but the Bible dresses this up as a final showdown between darkness and light alias good and evil at Armageddon.
The more you investigate this subject the more convincing it is. Itis a rich ifield of inquiry but Christians, sensitive flowers that they are, steer clear of things resembling astrology. The truth is that these stories preceded Christianity and were universal where the ancients of most continents marked the changing of the seasons accurately by the sun and stars.
I would just like to add that the Persian christ cult known as Mithraism contributed the solar cross at the equinox to Christianity. The 'cross' being the crossing of the sun at the spring equinox (The path of the ecliptic crossing the line of the Equator) known from about 400BCE.

Sorry to harp on about Africa but JW's star performer the Democratic Republic of Congo is the poorest country in the world having the majority living below the poverty line. It is a land where instead of advancing they have lost much of the civilised infrastructure including good roads developed fifty years ago and returned to a basic hand to mouth existence.
The consequences of this to the welfare of the Congolese are crime, large families, hardships and desperation. It is little wonder that the rapidly increasing population of young and uneducated agricultural workers might be attracted to the JW delusion.
I recently saw (on video) GB member Losch claiming that the high figure for the memorial attendance in Congo is evidence for big growth in JW interest. This does not represent the real picture Mr Losch, you are falsifying the case for world growth!
As soon as things improve economically and with the arrival of the internet, the Congolese will not be so keen-- just like the rest of the world.

The only undeniable truth the Watchtower ever broadcast: "Religion is a snare and a racket".
Funny how no new light has come along and replaced this little gem!

I would call it a confidence trick.
"Would you like to know the real meaning of the Bible?"
This offer to study the Bible with a householder is dishonest because all JWs do is indoctrinate according to a narrow partisan and paranoid viewpoint. Secondly there is in the question a false assertion that there is a "real meaning" to the Bible.
"Join us and you get everlasting life!" Only fools (like me) fall for the ludicrous offer of everlasting life. Life is precious for the very reason that it is not everlasting.
Therefore all children should be made to understand this Latin dictum; Caveat emptor-- buyer beware, because the world is full of sales people with useless goods.

So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today
by pale.emperor inwe all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

Not only are we all with you PE but tell your brother that your friends here on this site all send him their best wishes for him to recover and get over these problems soon.
What a loathsome mind bending cult Jehovah's Witnesses are.
